Rebecca Parris Introduces Her New CD at IAJE January 12

Rebecca Parris will introduce her new recording You Don't Know Me at her IAJE performance on Friday, January 12, 11 pm, in the Sheraton Metropolitan Ballroom. Her tenth album, and first since the well-received My Foolish Heart (Koch, 2001), You Don't Know Me demonstrates Rebecca's full powers as a jazz vocalist--not only her artistry with a ballad, but also her mastery of the art of improvisation.

You cannot listen to Parris for more than a few moments without being startled by her talent. “I hear a little Carmen McRae when I listen to Rebecca, “says Ron DellaChiesa, the jazz disk jockey at WGBH in Boston. “And a little Sarah Vaughan. I think she's on that level." You Don't Know Me features Rebecca's longtime trio of Brad Hatfield on piano, Peter Kontrimas on bass, Matt Gordy on drums (with Jim Lattini taking over on the title cut) and three guests--Jerry Bergonzi, tenor saxophone; Gary Burton, vibraphone; and Houston Person, tenor saxophone.

Whether in a duo or quartet, performing a bluesor a bossa,Rebecca proves once again that she's one of the best jazz vocalists on the scene today.
