A throwback writer is one way to describe this Swiss-Indian multi-instrumentalist. Versatility is a better descriptor to use in context regarding man's fluidity between the different genres exhibited throughout his body of work. Another of Omer's projects is set to release its latest offering as Pierre Omer's Swing Revue returns with new cuts of trash-laden modern renditions of Depression-era gypsy swing on Tropical Breakdown. The follow-up to their 2013 Swing Cremona debut, the 12 tracks of Tropical Breakdown showcase The Swing Revue quartet's dexterity to change tempos and styles a while throughout the album's amalgamation of genre-crossing from hard-boiled lounge, exotica, punk rock, and a hoarse, bathtub-gin rickey soaked cover of L'Amour à la plage" from French synthpop duo, Niagra.
The decision to partner with Voodoo Rhythm for this release was a no-brainer for Pierre, given his work's long history with the Bernese outsider label. Tropical Breakdown's production helm was manned by Omer and discreetly recorded somewhere in Geneva, whose whereabouts will remain unknown for security purposes. Mixing duties were handled across the border in the German capital city by Nene Barrato (Movie Star Junkies) at Big Snuff Studios, with additional mixing by Monney B (Hell's Kitchen, L'os Gatillos). Since forming in 2013, The Pierre Omer Swing Revue has traversed across Europe numerous times, making festival stops at Bicnic Folk Blues, Montreux Jazz, Buskers Bern, Les Athénéennes, Pod'Ring Biel, Openair am Bielersee, and has held residency in Paris at Le Cirque Electrique.
