November is the traditional time of year when we all give thanks and the Charlie O family has so much to be thankful for as we recently learned that our own John Heard is 100% cancer free! John will be back on Thursday, December 18th fpr a very special welcome home celebration with Justo Almario, Roy McCurdy and Lanny Hartly so please make a reservation to attend. We're already starting to fill up that night so call the club soon.
We also have a lot of super jazz performances for you this November including great big bands, three birthday celebrations - Azar Lawrence on the 1st, Jack Sheldon on the 26th and our Roy McCurdy on the 29th, several new guests and all of your jazz favorites.
Charlie O can't seem to pick just one so he has two picks again this month of not to be missed performances - the first is the Bruce Eskovitz Jazz Orchestra on the 6th (www.bruceeskovitz.com) and the Chuck Berghofer Midnight Jazz Band (Chuck, Gary Foster, Terry Trotter and Joe LaBarbera) on the 19th.
Our Monday big band performances return with the Med Flory Supersax Jazzwave Big Band on the 3rd; the great Bill Holman Big Band on the 10th, the Ron King Big Band on the 17th (www.ronkingtrumpet.com) and the Frank Capp Juggernaut Big Band on the 24th playing all of the Basie Band charts. Please come out to support the efforts of these great jazz musicians doing what they do best. There is a $20 cash cover charge every Monday which is good for the entire evening. Please make reservations for big band nights.
Our Friday and Saturday line ups always feature exceptional guests and they perform with Chris Conner, Chuck Berghofer or John Giannelli, bass; Roy McCurdy, Dick Weller or Bob Leatherbarrow, drums, Theo Saunders, Tom Ranier, Jon Mayer (www.jonmayer.com), Tateng Katindig or Andy Langham, piano. Our outstanding lineup of guests include Azar Lawrence on the 1st and we'll celebrate Azar's birthday; Ron King on the 7th, Lanny Morgan on the 8th, the great vocalist Bill Henderson on the 14th, Don Menza on the 15th, Nolan Shaheed on the 21st, Plas Johnson (www.plasjohnson.com) on the 22nd, Don Menza on the 28th, and Rickey Woodard on the 29th to help us celebrate Roy McCurdy's birthday! Reservations are highly recommended for all Friday and Saturday performances.
Sunday performances bring some new guests and well as favorites - the Charles Owen Quartet on the 2nd, the Alisia Ard Quartet (Alisha, Joe Bagg, Jamey Tate, Ryan McCillicuddy) on the 9th, Ron Anthony and Barry Zweig will be here 16th, the Doug Webb Quartet (www.dougwebb.us/) featuring Kyle Eastwood (www.kyleeastwood.com) (Doug, Kyle, Mitch Forman, Lorca Hart) on the 23rd, and the Kate Reid Trio (www.katereidmusic.com) (Kate, piano and vocals, Chris Conner, Steve Barnes) on the 30th. Reservations are suggested for Sunday nights.
Our Tuesday performances include the Tateng Katindig Trio on the 4th, the Theo Saunders Quartet on the 11th, the Lorca Hart Trio (Lorca, Josh Nelson, Edwin Livingston) on the 18th, and the Don Williams Sextet featuring April Williams on the 18th (Don, April, Chris Colangelo, Andy Langham, Dick Weller, Barry Zweig). Reservations suggested for these Tuesday performances.
Our Wednesday guests include the Tony Inzalaco Quintet on the 5th (Tony, Benn Clatworthy, Nolan Shaheed, Theo Saunders, Chris Colangelo), the Jack Sheldon California Cool Quartet on the 12th, the Chuck Berghofer's Midnight Jazz Band on the 19th (Chuck, Gary Foster, Terry Trotter, Joe LaBarbera), and celebrate Jack Sheldon's birthday on the 26th with the Jack Sheldon California Cool Quartet. Reservations suggested for these performances - especially for Jack Sheldon! Thursday performances the Bruce Eskovitz Jazz Orchestra on the 6th, the Emil Richards Joe Porcaro Quartet (with Mike Lang and Bruce Lett) on the 13th, the Don Menza Quartet on the 20th and the Zane Musa Quartet are here on the 27th to help us celebrate Thanksgiving.
