On top of beer halls and Christmas markets, a prime reason to spend New Year in Munich is the Tollwood New Year's Eve Party on the Theresienwiese, organised by the Tollwood performing arts festival.
The Tollwood festivals have received high praise from both the press and visitors for their innovation and creativity. For the Tollwood New Year's Eve Party 2008, the organisers have again lined up whole host of DJs and live bands to accompany the traditional waltzing at midnight.
