New Jazz Releases From Concord Records

Peak Records is releasing the 50th album from Argentine jazz legend Gato Barbieri. As well as marking this milestone release, Gato is also celebrating his 70th birthday, five decades in showbiz and the 30th Anniversary of Last Tango in Paris, for which he won a Grammy. The new release is called The Shadow of the Cat and reunites Gato with Herb Albert. If you haven't yet received it, please let me know and I'll send it your way.

This month, Peak Records also releases a new CD from Glenn Jones, and Stretch Records gives us the latest from jazz drummer Dave Weckl and his band. Concord offers two classic reissues...Herb Ellis and Ray Brown and the Woody Herman Big Band.

Keely Smith, the Queen of Swing, gives us her tribute to the great band leader Count Basie. Look for Keely's stellar rendition of The House I Live In and the Star Spangled Banner (due out 10/22). Also coming soon is Monica Mancini's latest offering, Cinema Paradiso. This CD includes the first ever English-language recording of the love theme from the movie Cinema Paradiso, as well as a track from the new Robert Zemekis movie Ghost Ship.
