New Independent Jazz Resource
The site is user-driven and while membership is free, you do not need to be a member to participate in this music community. If you are an artist and have pieces available online, you can submit a link to your web page or sound files to get some free exposure. If you have news to share, there is a page on the site to submit your information. If you have a web page, send IndieDisco the link and start driving additional traffic to your work.
“We have a broad definition of “independent"," says Christopher Grotke, one of the site's creators. “Jazz, by its very nature, qualifies more often then not, though we do reserve the right to avoid the pop-jazz dribble from certain un-named artists, like Kenny G.," he adds with a laugh. “We're looking for those artists that have deep roots in jazz and are breaking new ground, and would love to help do our part to increase people's knowledge of what is going on as well as help artists gain exposure. IndieDisco hopes to provide this exposure by cross-pollination, attracting, for example, funk fans and turning them on to new jazz while they visit the site."
IndieDisco is also looking for reviews of discs, and anyone can contribute. If something moves you enough to write about it, you can add your opinions to the ever-growing database of reviews.
“We hope to become a useful resource for those interested in a wide variety of independent, original musical expressions," says Grotke. “Stop by and add to the celebration of real music, from real people."
