On the night of Nov. 20, 2002 Legends Cafe in Modesto, California will have a special performance with a small group of soloist strutting their skills with the Dave Wallace Quartet. It's an evening of music and magic along with upcoming multi-genre male vocalist Benjamin Duncan. The young 19 year-old from Redwood City is known as “Gem", elegant style, resonant tone, and ability to improvise on the spot. The young vocalist has worked with many other great jazz vocalist as well: Carl Anderson, Carmen Lundy, Don Shelton, and more. It's at the Legends Cafe the audience will experience the new artist and his skills. After making a demo over the summer Benjamin has undergone a transformation of feeling and emotion. “I have nothing but faith in him." says promoter Jamal Timmons. “It's his style and attitude towards jazz that captures the attention of the audience. I truly believe his youthfulness is just as powerful as Norah Jones and Jane Monheit; they'll all bring jazz back." The performance is at 7 p.m. and has a $5 cover charge, proceeds going to the local college. It should be a true treat for all music lovers, especially jazz.
