Legendary Newsman Steve Dunleavy Gives New York Smooth Jazz a Voice in His Return to Broadcasting

Legendary journalist Steve Dunleavy, Editorial Columnist of the New York Post, and of Fox Tv's A Current Affair fame, hits the radio waves immediately in a series of spots for Catman Records Recording Artist, artist Mike Catalano's new Cd A Manhattan Affair to “help Mike keep New York Smooth Jazz on the map said Dunleavy referring also to the recent loss of the format on CD in New York. These spots are in conjunction with the Liner Notes, Dunleavy wrote for Catalano's CD, A Manhattan Affair. The 30 second and 60 second spots, are making their debut immediately on WNUA in Chicago, WJJZ in Philidelphia, The Wave in Los Angeles, and on WNWV, KYOT, WSMJ, WSJT, KWJZ, and various other stations in the coming weeks and months, throughout the country and will be running continuously on the Catman Records Homepage.

“Smooth as Silk is what you'll hear and feel on Mike's New CD", “My affair now is A Manhattan Affair", says Dunleavy in the light hearted spots with his charming Australian accent, which point's out Pianist Mike Catalano's “New Sound in Town", and makes note of Mike's Superstar Smooth Jazz guests “Joining mike are the creme of the crop of Smooth Jazz Will Lee, Bob James, Chuck Loeb, and Ivan Lins."

It was a mutual love and admiration, for the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim, composer of such classics as “The Girl from Ipanema", “Wave", that brought Steve Dunleavy and Mike Catalano together, during the days of Fox TV's A Current Affair with Maury Povich where Dunleavy recruited composer pianist Mike Catalano to write the daily music for the show, culminating in one of the highest rated shows in syndicated tv, Mikes music set the stage for the infamous Preppie Murder case, of the murder in Central Park. Mike made his debut record A Rio Affair during A Current Affair, it comes as no surprise his 2007/2008 debut in the Contemporary Jazz world, Smooth Jazz format is titled A Manhattan Affair. Steve Dunleavy volunteered to wrote a liner note column for the CD book for A Manhattan Affair produced by Mike Catalano and Will Lee. Affair's debut single “Smooth as Silk" has been steadily climbing to the top of the radio charts in the USA including Radio and Records “Smooth Jazz Indicator".

Steve Dunleavy, Editorial columnist for the New York Post, was born in Bondi Beach, Australia has been a journalist since 1953 and with Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation since 1967 Revolutionizing, print and TV journalism in America and around the world with News Corp. starting up the original National Star Magazine with Murdoch in 1974, and while New York City Editor at the New York post in 1977 in the height of New York City's “Son of Sam" crisis, during the “Summer of Sam" in 1977 as it was called, the killer was sending his anonymous letters to Editor Dunleavy at the Post.
