Jimmy Smith Quintet at the Iridium Thursday-Sunday, April 24-27

The legendary Jimmy Smith is often referred to as The Father of The Hammond B3 organ. Jimmy first gained international fame with the debut release of A New Sound-A New Star-Jimmy Smith At The Organ Volume 1. His was and is still, a new sound indeed-solidly percussive, phat bass lines, fleet horn-like runs, more than a touch of roadside blues and old-time church, as well as, an improvisational fluidity that is not usually associated with the instrument.
