PHILADELPHIA, PA May 16, 2005- Popular JAZZ CLUB and RESTAURANT, ZANZIBAR BLUE, is pleased to announce the rescheduled dates for vibraphone master Gary Burton & Generations, for Friday and Saturday, June 3 & 4, 2005.

Jazz master Gary Burton, five-time Grammy Award winner, 12 time Grammy Award nominee, self-taught, virtuoso vibraphonist, educator, band leader and now host of his own satellite radio show brings his Generations band featuring guitar prodigy Julian Lage to Zanzibar Blue for the first time.

Burton, considered a genius by many, is credited with developing the four-mallet method of vibraphone playing and with the “discovery" of many of today¹s leading jazz musicians. In the early 1960's, Burton introduced the electric guitar to the jazz arena, predating even the works of Miles Davis.

Over the years, Burton has played with and introduced the world to musicians who have gone on to be some of the best in their field; John Scofield, Mick Goodrick, Larry Coryell and Pat Metheny amongst them.

Burton first saw and heard Julian Lage, his latest young protégé, when Lage was just twelve years old and performing at a Grammy Awards show. Burton was impressed not only with Lage's skill, but also with his amazing ability to improvise. Burton is not alone in his opinion of Lage; Herbie Hancock sees Lage as a musician who plays “with heart, mind and soul". The Los Angeles Times wrote Lage “showed all the signs of potential stardom".

Burton's recording, Generations, released in 2004, features Lage on guitar and original compositions by the 16-year old musician as well as tunes by Pat Metheny and Oscar Peterson.

Gary Burton's Generations will perform two shows nightly at 8:00pm and 10:00pm on Friday and Saturday, June 3 & 4, 2005. Cover charge is $35.00.
