Sunset Jazz at Newport, featuring straight ahead jazz performed by top jazz performers, begins July 11 and will continue for 10 more summer Wednesday nights at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel in Southern California. ROY HAYNES RECEIVED GEORGE PEABODY MEDAL Legendary drummer and bandleader Roy Haynes received the George Peabody Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Music in America on May 24 at graduation ceremonies for the Peabody Conservatory, the highly regarded music school of The Johns Hopkins University.
