Baritone sax great Nick Brignola died at the Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY on Feb. 8, 2002 after a long battle with cancer.

Mainly self-taught, he studied music at Ithaca College and Berklee School of Music in the mid 1950s. His greatest baritone influence was Harry Carney of The Duke Ellington band who became his mentor.

The next tune from Nick Drozdoff's upcoming CD, “New Stuff" has been posted to MP3.COM for free downloads and playbacks. It is an unusuall pop/rock/fusion tune called “Eternal Noon" and can be found at http://www.mp3.com/NickDrozdoff. It features a sort of Bill Chase style of multiple trumpets and flugelhorns overlaying a rock rhythm section.

Beginning April 1, 2002, the Jazz Record Center will conduct a series of internet auctions of over 2,000 highly collectable instrumental and vocal 10” and 12” LPs, EPs and 45s that have never been available for sale to the public. Each two-week auction will consist of approximately 200 records.
