Kimmel Center to Manage University of the Arts Merriam Theater

Kimmel Center President and CEO Anne Ewers and Sean Buffington, President of the University of the Arts announced today a five-year agreement to have the Center manage the University's historic Merriam Theater. The agreement allows the Kimmel Center to book theatrical productions, such as its successful Broadway series, additional Kimmel Center Presents concerts and performances, as well as making the space available for rent by commercial and non-profit organizations. Judge in Pirate Bay Appeal Removed for Bias

Categories: Yo Ho Ho The Pirate Bay saga took another twist Tuesday as one of the appellate judges set to hear the appeal of the co-founders criminal copyright convictions was removed over concerns of bias.

The Swedish judge in question, Fredrik Niemela, owns an unstated number of stock options in the music streaming service, Spotify, which has content deals with members of the Recording Industry Association of America.

For a dozen years, Antonio Castillo de la Gala has charmed patrons at the hotel's Champagne Bar. Tonight, the boy from Veracruz ends his run.

For 12 1/2 years, he has entertained patrons with classic songs rendered in a style rich in embellishment and filigree. Tuesday night will be his last; along with about 220 other employees, he is losing his job. No matter. He's expecting a crowd.

Thelonious Dub to Release Debut CD

Thelonious Dub, Hollywood based modern jazz quartet led by guitarist Joe Bartone, launches their first full-length studio effort with a special CD release party to be held at Home Restaurant and Lounge in Silverlake on Saturday, October 24 at 7pm.

The CD Release Party is open to the public and features sets by both Thelonious Dub and The Brad Rabuchin Trio led Ray Charles guitarist Brad Rabuchin now teaching at Musician's Institute. There is no admission cover.
