Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) has today announced that it has acquired a stake in the iconic ‘Peanuts’ brand. Created by Charles M. Schulz in 1950 and owned by Nova Scotia-based DHX Media, Sony purchased 49% of DHX Media’s 80% stake in ‘Peanuts’ for $185 million. Painfully little is known about trumpeter Sam Trippe's career. Based on my research last night, Trippe was born in 1923 and grew up near Rochester, N.Y. He married in 1945 and lived with his wife, Dorothy, in the village of Endicott, N.Y.
