The waters might be choppy for the music business right now, but the Concord Music Group is happy to ride those waves. In April, Concord, an independent label, announced two deals, one to distribute Paul McCartney's post-Beatles catalog and another to buy Rounder Records, the roots label from Boston whose “Raising Sand" won a Grammy for best album in 2009. NASHVILLE -- The country music star Brad Paisley was one of hundreds of performers who feared for their instruments this week after the Cumberland River overflowed.
The water covered large areas of Nashville, flooding the Grand Ole Opry stage with two feet of it, causing heavy damage to the symphony hall and forcing electricity to be cut in a tourist neighborhood of downtown.

TuneCore Adds Charts, Offers Impressive Sales Stats

Flat fee digital distributor TuneCore has added a weekly Top 20 Artists chart and Top 20 Songs chart compiled from iTunes daily trend reports. Along with the announcement came come interesting stats from 2009 that show how TuneCore's popularity and hint at the potential for independent sales.
