Anthony Wilson - Seasons: Live at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (2011) CD/DVD
Source:
Something Else!
This album is credited to Anthony Wilson and rightfully so, as this master guitarist/composer/arranger wrote the four-part Seasons" suite and led a quartet of virtuosic plectrists to perform it before a live audience. But perhaps the real leader of this session isn't a person but rather, the exquisitely handcrafted guitars of John Monteleone. Monteleone has been making mandolins and guitars since the 1970s, and while his products have never become household name, many of the world's best guitaristslike Mark Knopflerknow ...

Source:
Something Else!
Taj Mahal, recording as part of the 30th annual John Lennon Tribute at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, finds the chest-bursting peril, the nakedly emotional plea, inside Come Together"giving it such a thunderously heartfelt makeover that you'd swear this old Beatles tune had been a blues shout first. And that's just one of what becomes a stirring series of remakes on this Lennon memorial project, to be issued today. Shelby Lynne ("Mother"), Me'shell Ndegeocello ("God"), Alejandro Escovedo ("Help!) ...

Gunn has studied all of ...

Autobiographical storytelling and subtle prettiness characterize new EP from singer/songwriter Kerri Lowe
Source:
Graham Taylor
Singer/songwriter Kerri Lowe is a promising young talent in the Americana scene, one with a gift for reinterpreting diary passages into catchy folk songs. On her debut EP, Move Free, Lowe's storytelling has an autobiographical perspective, and instead of hiding her emotions in ironic wordplay or consciously vague poetry she lets them bleed. Nowhere is this more evident than on Please Don't Take Me to Kentucky." Set to a spare acoustic guitar, Lowe's fragile voice details how she discovered the ...
