The Bombay Royale Release "You Me Bullets Love" on May 15
Source:
Press Junkie PR
The Bombay Royale are dedicated to bringing music and mayhem of vintage Indian cinema back to the future, where it belongs. Their debut album You Me Bullets Love is a blend of haunting Hindi and Bengali vocals, pulsing deep funk and disco breaks and shimmering surf-a-delica. Expect huge horn riffs, wild spaghetti guitar, bustling tabla, screaming organs and all the synthesizers, sitars and strings that made the music of 1960s and 1970s Bollywood so electrifying. Starring vocalists Parvyn Kaur Singh ...

Guitarist Ralph Conde Pays Homage To Haitian Musicians On New Album, Opens Online Guitar Clinic
Source:
Lauren Rogers
The significant contributions of Haitian musicians to jazz are the heart of guitarist Ralph Conde’s latest release, Respe. His playing both tasteful and heartfelt, Conde delivers one inspired performance after another, his guitars scorching with raw passion and transcendent energy. The album is a potent overview of Caribbean sounds, which is apt since Conde is actually a guitar teacher as well; for those yearning for an intro to these Latin styles, Respe is an educational powerhouse. Ironically, instructing students about ...

Source:
JazzWax by Marc Myers
For the past two weeks, my overloaded schedule has kept me from reviewing CD and DVD discoveries in my Weekend Wax Bits roundup—which goes up early on Saturdays. So I figured why not present the reviews today—on a Tuesday: When vocalist Tessa Souter mentioned to Tetsuo Hara, owner of Venus Records, that she dug Steve Kuhn's recording of Prelude in E Minor by Chopin, Hara had a suggestion: How about an album of classical melodies set to words? Tessa agreed, ...

Limited Edition "Long Live Boogaloo!" Double Vinyl
Source:
Press Junkie PR
In the mid 1960s Latin teenagers in New York's Spanish Harlem neighborhood created a new style of music called Latin boogaloo. The sound was a mix of the Cuban music they grew up with and American R&B like James Brown and Hank Ballard. It quickly caught on and before long the young purveyors of this new sound were taking business from the likes of Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez, and Eddie Palmieri. Soon the established acts reluctantly joined the craze and ...
