The Grammys Amend Best New Artist Eligibility Rules, Now Accept Online Submissions

Change is in the air for the Grammys.

Actually, the award show itself will probably be pretty much the same, but there have been some changes to the rules for submissions and nominations.

In an effort to not be left out at a time when almost every other aspect of the music industry is evolving, the Recording Academy will be changing the nomination process for its iconic awards show.

Gaga Power, the Rules for the Grammys Change

Due to a technicality, Lady Gaga was ineligible for the nomination of best new artist at this year's Grammys -even though she was the most popular artist of 2009.  Since she was a nominee the previous year, it meant that she couldn't be one in the next. Third-time DownBeat Poll Win for Manfred Eicher and ECM

For the third consecutive year, the DownBeat Critics Poll has voted Manfred Eicher Producer of the Year and ECM Records Label of the Year. Results are announced in the August edition of the US jazz magazine, which reaches international newsstands in mid-July.
