Source:

John Legend kept his distance from the piano when he started his concert at Radio City Music Hall on Thursday night.
He looked like an aggressive R&B star, with a video intro presenting him as a boxer ( la L L Cool J) while he made his entrance down the orchestra aisle in sunglasses and a leather jacket. Booming drumbeats pushed him through his first half-dozen songs as he worked the stage.
But he looked more comfortable once he tossed ...

Seattle Times: New Orleans Sound Takes a Trip to Seattle, Courtesy of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band
Source:
Seattle Jazz Scene
from The Seattle Times: Everyone should experience Mardi Gras at least once, but if a trip to New Orleans isn’t in the cards, rest assured that the Dirty Dozen Brass Band is bringing a potent jolt of Crescent City soul to Seattle. Take powerful tenor and baritone Dale Fielder at Vibrato on Friday: This guy can rock a room. Or across town at the Caf 322, where The Bobby Bradford Motet slips his out-there stuff by the crowd by hiding it in some fairly traditional arrangements. It works. Guitarist/picker Bruce Forman is the melodic third of the house trio at the Foundry on Melrose on Friday, while pianist Josh Nelson ...

Department of Eagles/The Cave Singers :: 01.25.09 :: Cafe du Nord :: San Francisco, CA
Department of Eagles :: 01.25 :: S.F. The Department of Eagles stopped by Cafe du Nord for two back-to-back performances (an early and a late show), each contrastingly wrapped in neat precision and imperfect freshness. Just as their latest album (In Ear Park) reflects, the performance served as an intimate ...
