B.B. King Tour Stops at the Venue in Hammond

As does a roaring crowd at Eric Clapton's 2007 Crossroads Guitar Festival, where most of the attendees think ...

Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson to Join Mellencamp Tour

Source: All About Jazz
March 22, 2009

It looks like Bob Dylan may be hitting the road with John Mellencamp for a run of minor league ballpark gigs this summer.

Nothing has been confirmed, but at a recent Joan Baez concert in Bloomington she let the word slip. After playing “Don’t Think Twice It’s All Right” at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater to a crowd that included hometown hero John Mellencamp, Baez said “Mellencamp? March 21, 2009

Based on first impressions, the '70s were back at Royce Hall on Thursday night. Led by two titans of jazz fusion, that controversial sub-genre that began with Miles Davis' “In a Silent Way," John McLaughlin and Chick Corea opened their North American tour with an ensemble dubbed the Five Peace Band.

The UCLA event brought the guitarist and the keyboardist together for the first time since before the two left Davis' band to further blend jazz with rock and world ...

Eric Lewis Interpreting Classics of an Alternative Kind

Source: Michael Ricci
March 21, 2009

The jazz pianist Eric Lewis recently said that when he first listened to the rap-rock band Linkin Park, the sound of its singer, Chester Bennington, put him in mind of John Coltrane.

He also said that Linkin Park made him think of Miles Davis and Elvin Jones and Puccini. Seriously: it’s in an interview on the blog of the TED conference (blog.ted.com), an annual gathering of maverick ideologues, where he and his band recently performed.

The jazz pianist Eric Lewis ...
