Elvis Presley recording at RCA Studios in 1956, the year “Heartbreak Hotel" made him a star. Months earlier, Sun Records head Sam Phillips had sold Presley's contract to RCA for $40,000. By the end of 1957, Elvis had scored nine Number One singles.
