But Michelle Obama may have struck the right cord (((that's chord"))) with her gift to her newest friend, Carla Bruni -Sarkozy.
After meeting the wife of French President Sarkozy, Mrs. Obama gave Carla Bruni an acoustic Gibson guitar. (((I wonder if it was strung and tuned. By a really hip, musical Secret Service guy.)))
Bruni a former model is also a singer/songwriter. On each of her three CDs, the last of which was released just this past June, she plays the guitar on many of the tracks.
The First lady presented Bruni with the gift on Saturday when the ladies visited the Cathedral de Norte Dame de Strasbourg with the rest of the NATO Summit spouses. (((Carla being the NATO Summit Spouse With The Guitar.")))
The two first met on Friday when Mr. and Mrs. Obama visited French Palace Rohan. The first ladys office said that the two women really hit it off and enjoyed a private lunch together that lasted for over an hour together. (((Oh to be a fly on the wall. Well, maybe they'll Twitter it.)))
*(((And what kinda axe is that? I'm not sure, but from press reports it would seem to be about $6500 worth of fanatically historically-restored American guitar. Gift fit for an empress rather than a tattered-jeans minstrel.)))
Gibson has painstakingly reproduced this knockout vintage acoustic down to the minute details. The Gibson J-45 is one of the most played and cherished acoustic guitars in history. This Legends version of the J-45 can handle music from the blues to bluegrass to folk to pop and everything in between. (((Including French chanson singers with hefty personal fortunes.))) Hand crafted by Gibson luthiers using techniques from the J-45 guitar's heyday, the Legend J-45 boasts an Adirondack spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides to produce unmatched mellow, full-bodied tone.
Did you ever have one of the what if" conversations? Like, what if I won the lottery" kind of things. (((Like, what if I were a guitar destined for Carla Bruni-Sarkozy."))) Some three years ago the luthiers at Gibson's acoustic guitar plant in Bozeman, Montana had one of those kind of conversations. It went sort of like this: What if we could go back in time and build a brand new guitar exactly the way they were built back then". (((Kind of a Buzz Rickson's" thing.)))
