Gershwin to Gillespie: Portraits in American Music, National Heritage Museum

Photographs of performers, composers, and other movers in American music are on exhibit April 15 to September 17, 2006, at the National Heritage Museum, Lexington, MA.

Organized by the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film, the exhibit includes photos of jazz and blues musicians such as Thelonious Monk, B.B. King, and Sonny Stitt, as well as musicians Bob Dylan and Aretha Franklin, and composers Leonard Bernstein and Lukas Foss. Photographers represented include Edward Steichen, Art Kane ("A Great Day in Harlem"), and Annie Leibovitz of Rolling Stone magazine.
