Concord Records March Update -- Spring Is In the Air

pring is here and that means the birth of all things new! That is certainly the case here at Concord this month. We have our first new releases of 2003, including the debut, self-titled CD from our 19-year old jazz sensation Peter Cincotti. We love him! The NY critics love him! But if you want to catch him for yourself, Peter will be on NPR Morning Edition and the Fox News Channel's “After Hours" this Saturday (3/8), on the Caroline Rhea Show on March 11 and on CNN “Music Room" next week. Release date is March 11.

Also coming on March 11 is the new solo project from Grammy Award-winning bassist John Patitucci. “Songs, Stories and Spirituals" is a musical adventure and John showcases his many talents as composer, arranger and bass player on twelve musically eclectic tracks, from beloved jazz standards and Afro-Brazilian tunes to American folks songs and gospel favorites. John is joined by this year's Grammy Award-nominated Brazilian jazz vocalist Luciana Souza, as well as his wife Sacha.

John is featured on another new release in April, “Rendezvous in New York." This stunning 2-CD set was recorded during Chick Corea's 60th b-day celebrations at the Blue Note in NYC in December 2001 and features a veritable who's who of the jazz world. During the three-week engagement, Chick was joined on-stage by Gary Burton, Josh Redman, Terence Blanchard, Bobby McFerrin, Dave Weckl, and Avishai Cohen, to name only a few. This is our first release on the Super Audio CD format, which for all those out there with SACD players, the sound quality is out-of-this-world. For the rest of us, this CD is still pretty cool!
