Concord Records February 2003 Update / Release Schedule

2003 marks a milestone year for the legendary and incredibly charming Marian McPartland. Not only does she celebrate her 85th birthday, but she also marks 25 years as host of NPR's “Piano Jazz" program and 25 years with Concord Records. This month, Concord re-issues three titles in Marian's popular “Piano Jazz" series. This time she is joined by special guests Dizzy Gillespie, Rosemary Clooney and Dave Brubeck. The CDs are on their way to you now.

Coming up in March is the debut release from 19-year jazz pianist and singer Peter Cincotti. You'll be hearing a lot about Peter over the coming months. Vanity Fair, Elle Magazine, New York Magazine, Teen Vogue, CNN, NY Times, “Fox" News Channel, NY Times and more, are all running stories. On February 11th, he begins another month-long run at the famed Oak Room in NYC.

Also in March is John Patitucci's Songs, Stories and Spirituals. Showcasing John on both acoustic and electric bass, the CD also features Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Luciana Souza, pianist Edward Simon and drummer/percussionist Brian Blade. John appears on another release coming your way soon....Rendezvous in New York. This 2-CD set is a live recording from Chick Corea's 60th birthday celebrations in NYC in early 2002. Our first release on the Special Audio format, Rendezvous features a who's who of jazz greats, from Bobby McFerrin, Josh Redman and Roy Haynes to Gary Burton, Jeff Ballard and Terence Blanchard.
