CHILDREN’S NATIONAL MEDICAL CENTER IN WASH. DC PRESENTS JAZZMATAZZ

Washington, DC (December 17, 2001) – Children’s National Medical Center is pleased to announce Jeff “Skunk” Baxter as honorary chairman of their annual fund raising event, Jazzmatazz. As honorary chairman, Jeff will play an important role in organizing the culminating event of Jazzmatazz 2002 led by event headliner B.B. King.

An evening full of sensational jazz performances by world-class artists, will take place Friday, May 3, 2002 at the fourth annual Jazzmatazz. This year’s Jazzmatazz was hailed by the press as a great success and much of that was due to the exciting, closing performance of Skunk Baxter, playing with local thirteen-time Whammie winner, Mary Ann Redmond and her band.

Skunk Baxter is a legendary guitarist who has won two Grammy Awards, has twelve gold records and six platinum records. In Skunk’s 30 years in music he has played lead guitar as a founding member of Steely Dan, a group recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

More jazz in one place on one night than anywhere else in Washington, DC, the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center is magically transformed into six jazz clubs where performance times are staggered in order for patrons and guests to view as many artists as they wish to see.
