Artists Against Piracy Launches Next Phase of Public Awareness
LOS ANGELES -- Sept. 29, 2000 -- Artists Against Piracy, an artist-driven coalition formed to give recording artists a voice in determining how their music is distributed on the Internet, today announced plans for the next phase in its ongoing public awareness campaign. The organization will launch a series of print ads in national publications, a new Web site and an extensive media campaign at more than 100 colleges nationwide beginning the week of Oct. 2, and continuing through the end of the year.
A series of thought-provoking ads, designed to present some of the most critical issues concerning artists and the future of music online, will appear in a variety of national consumer publications including, Rolling Stone, Spin, Source, Revolution, Electronic Gaming Monthly, GamePro, WWF Magazine, YM and Teen People. The ads incorporate a single word such as Choice," Creation" or Respect," featuring the universal copyright symbol of c" in the circle, with questions designed to encourage people to think about the online music debate from the artists
