Dobet Gnahor, Africa's new voice, dancer and percussionist, from Ivory Coast, who is compared to genre legends and cultural ambassadors like Miriam Makeba and Hugh Masakela, is set to electrify St. Lucia Jazz Festival with two performances, May 2 and 9th.

She's a rarity, on stage Dobet exudes an inner strength and commanding presence, she is mesmerising even before she opens her mouth to sing. With a voice filled with emotion and range she moves through a range of heartfelt ballads, funky stuff, and danceable songs performed in a wide range of African styles.

Eventually, Dobet Gnahore dances and the true depth of her talent shines through, like an acrobat she leaps across the stage in a tornado of movements. At just 24 years old she seems to have gotten it all, an exceptional voice, amazing dance skills and the engaging aura reserved for artistic greats.
Dobet Gnahore is arguably African music's most exciting young talent.
