ADELAIDE HALL....A Centenary Celebration" has been released by AVID RECORDS to commemorate the centennial of Miss Hall's birth. The double Cd contains over 50 songs she recorded between 1927 - 1945 and includes some previously unissued gems.
Adelaide Hall is musical history, a central figure in the great resurgence of African-American music that began during the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s. A jazz innovator, she arrived on the jazz scene at the same time as fellow scat" singer Louis Armstrong. They were part of the generation that created the sound of jazz, and Adelaide performed with some of the greats: Duke Ellington, Art Tatum and Fats Waller who are all featured with her on this compilation CD.
