Bassist, composer, producer, and instructor Zachary Teran lives in the Reno/Tahoe area, where he graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2010 with a Bachelor's of Music in Jazz and Improvisational Music. While in the Northern Nevada area he had the opportunity to study and play with the likes of Peter Epstein, David Ake, Hans Halt, Drew Gress, Ben Wendel, Esperanza Spalding, Ben Street, along with other notable jazz figures. After graduating, he moved to Boulder, Colorado where he quickly became a contributing force in the local jazz community. During his time in Colorado, Zack was fortunate enough to be able to play with Art Lande, whom he could eventually call a friend and mentor.

His career as a touring bassist has yet to slow down since 2006. Some of the more notable groups Teran has toured, recorded, and played with include: Y La Bamba, M83, Tim Snider, Satsang, and The Novelists. With these groups, Zachary Teran has had the opportunity to travel the world, extensively so in the United States.

Zack has also been very busy as a composer in recent years. In 2017 he wrote and performed the score for the documentary, Inspire Hope. This project launched a strong professional relationship with video producer, Bryon Evans. Teran would team up with Evans on many projects including Evan’s short horror film Inflatio which has gone on to win many awards at short film festivals. In 2018 he released his debut album Portalis on the Orenda Records label. This album showcases Terans compositional style and his performance style in a small, improvising, ensemble.
