Xavier Gordon

Born September 21, 1990 in Conyers, Georgia, Xavier Gordon was surrounded with music at home, church, and in every aspect of his life. His religious background and musical family allowed him to involve himself in music firsthand. At the age of eight, he began to play piano at church. Through his early start as a pianist he developed skills in classical, gospel, rhythm and blues, and many other genres of music. Xavier became a well rounded musician, learning to play other instruments and also becoming a composer and producer of music.

As a musician, he has played for many respected organizations including the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, and Senator Hank Johnson’s campaign party in 2007. He used every opportunity to strengthen his musical talents through chorus and theatre. Throughout high school, Xavier accompanied many of the school musicals as lead pianist. During his senior year of high school, he produced a talent showcase, Inside Out, rewarding a college scholarship to the winning student. Shortly after, Xavier composed a piece for the upcoming graduation which was performed at the commencement ceremony.

After graduating from high school in 2008, he gained instruction experience through teaching choirs, and coaching private lessons. Xavier also played lead piano in the On Stage Atlanta musical Wild Party in 2009. During an opportunity to play with the Lincoln Jazz Center band at the Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta in 2009, he became more interested with the jazz genre. Once intrigued with jazz, he began his BA at Georgia State University and is currently studying jazz piano performance as a junior at Georgia State University’s School of Music. Xavier released his first album at the age of 19 entitled My Music Gave to Me. This album is truly a Christmas Holiday classic. In November 2010, Xavier created The Gift, his second solo album and Christmas cd. He is also celebrating the successful release of his first smooth jazz album released August 2011, Just For You. He is enjoying the moment and is constantly working on new projects, including a smooth jazz cd to be released in the spring of 2012 including legendary musicians and composers: Earl Fleming, Little John Roberts, Jerry Livingston, Mike Burton, Melvin Jones, and Anthony Lockett.
