Vitantonio Gasparro

Born in 1998, he approached the study of the drums at 6 years with the M° Piero Notarnicola. He obtained with the highest marks and honors the academic diplomas in "Percussion Instruments" and "Drums and Percussion Jazz", respectively at the conservatory "N. Piccinni" of Bari under the guidance of the M° Luigi Morleo and in Matera at the conservatory "E. R. Duni" with M° Bruno Astesana. He currently devotes himself to the study of jazz music with the M° Attilio Troiano.

He won numerous national and international competitions, including the "Premio Rosa Ponselle" Matera 2015, the "XIII Edition Italy Percussion Competition" 2015, the review "Musica Giovani" 2016 of the Camerata Musicale Barese, The Critics and Audience Award in the International Competition Massimo Urbani 2023, The First Prize at the Dexter Jazz Contest 2023. He has collaborated as a percussionist with various orchestras, among which: orchestra of the Metropolitan City of Bari (conducted by illustrious conductors including M has D. Oren, M has M. Billi, M has P. Silvestri), Orchestra Nazionale dei Conservatori Italiani (directed by M somebody E. Dindo, M somebody G. Grazioli and, on the occasion of the concerts at the Arena of Verona for the twenty-year career of the singer Elisa Toffoli, by M somebody A. Cadario). He also plays, in the 2019, 2020, 2021 editions of the Majatica Jazz Festival. He attended masterclasses with leading international jazz musicians, including J.V. Ruller, D. Kikoski, C. Atti, U. Owens jr, G. Amato. In summer 2022 he attended the "Berklee at Umbria Jazz Clinics" in Perugia, where he was awarded the "Outstanding Musicianship" award. He collaborates with the guitarist Guido Di Leone for the projects: "How Swing Band", swing formation inspired by the sextet of Benny Goodman; "Frank Sinatra Legacy", a tribute to the homonymous singer with the most famous jazz standards of his repertoire.
