Vibe Normann Clausen

Born and raised in Denmark, Vibe Clausen received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University in Copenhagen. Vibe first trained to be a classical- and chamber choir singer with masters Bonna Soendberg, Hanne Stavad and Sharla Nafziger. As a classical singer she worked with chamber choirs such as Euphonia, Lille MUKO and Tivoli's concert Choir, Bronshoj Kirke's and Vor Frelser's Kirke's choirs with whom she toured extensively and also participated in several Radio Transmissions, Festivals and CD recordings.

Since 2002 Vibe has resided in New York City where she began to work more and more within the Jazz tradition. She has deep roots in the Danish hymn tradition, and fuses this great tradition as well as Danish folk-song with Jazz. During her time in New York she has worked with esteemed musicians such as Mads Baerentzen, Anne Mette Iversen, Otis Brown III Soren Moller, Kim Bock and John Cantrell, Aaron Nevezie and Josh Ginsburg.

As a songwriter and composer, Vibe has developed a unique personal style that embraces the different musical styles that she has absorbed throughout her career: from French and German lieder-tradition over Danish folk- tradition and sacred music to modern Jazz; she speaks -and sings- 6 different languages.

She was chosen by the Royal Danish Embassy to be a soloist at the 2006 Wolf Trap Ball in Washington DC at the Wolf Trap Opera House in front of a 1,000+ audience. Another highlight of her career was when when she performed for His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik and her Royal Higness Crown Princess Mary at the 2007 Creative Nation Galla Dinner hosted by Danish Industry and the Consulate General in New York. Vibe is currently preparing for a new CD release set for the summer of 2009. The CD is to be a recording of Danish hymns arranged in Jazz style and will feature Anne Mette Iversen and John Cantrel.
