Ty Turner

Born and raised in Philadelphia Pa., studied music in the philadelphia school systems. My first instrument was the baritone horn which taught me the bass clef. My musical mentor was Frank Loper who was the main influence on my teachings. It was he that introduced me to the art form. When he took me to meet the musicans of the philadelphia orchestra is when i fell for the acoustic bass . The bassist for the orchestra taught me the important things about the bass. At the time i could not afford a acoustic bass , so i applied his teachings to the electric bass. I also started taking lessons from a local musican who at the time was much in demand. I started my first band with friends in my neighborhood and former school band members. I moved to New Jersey and found some local musicans to play with, we played all the circuits in the area. Then came the casinos to with i had a chance to play in them. To name all the musicans that i played with (famous and non - famous) is too long for my bio. This all led me to explore the music scenes in various cities and overseas. My musical styles includes: Jazz (Main & contemporary) , Fusion,Funk,R&B,Blues,Nu- jazz,Latin/Salsa,Rock,Pop,Country,Reagge,Gospel,As well as others. I'm working on my solo cd soon to be out. I'm available for Recording,Tours,Subbing,Club Dates. Be sure to visit me at www.myspace/tyteeturner

The moment I heard that Tina Turner had died yesterday at 2:45 p.m., I started writing. I knew what was about to happen. Within minutes, I heard from the arts editor asking for an appreciation needed asap. An hour and 45 minutes later, my essay was done, fact-checked and filed. Tina was a force of nature. Driven, high-energy and charismatic, she had three careers. As a member of the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, she was instrumental in their many ...

The music by Lee Konitz (as), Warne Marsh (ts), Lennie Tristano (p), Billy Bauer (g), Arnold Fishkin (b) and Harold Granowsky (d) featured the reeds playing bone dry (with zero vibrato), high on the upper ...
