Stefan Lovin
Stefan Lovin is a Romanian pianist and composer whose music lies at the crossroads of free improvisation, classical tradition, and folk roots. Trained in the European classical school, he gradually expanded his artistic language towards jazz improvisation and avant-garde experimentation, often drawing comparisons with Keith Jarrett’s lyrical freedom.
His work explores the dialogue between Romanian folk melodies and the contemplative spirit of modern jazz, creating soundscapes that are both intimate and expansive. Lovin frequently employs techniques such as prepared piano to broaden the instrument’s expressive palette.
He has released several albums, including The Poet of the Sea (2022), inspired by meditations on the sea, and Traditional Romanian Songs (Live) (2025), a re-imagining of Christmas carols and sacred folk music. His upcoming project, Heaven Shines Like Silver (to be released in December 2025), continues his journey into spiritual and reflective sound worlds.
Performing both as a soloist and in collaborations, Stefan Lovin remains committed to bridging genres and to crafting music that resonates with authenticity, imagination, and cultural depth.
