Señor Gigio

Having endured an illustrious career as a hip hop artist in the Bay Area for nearly a decade, Gigio Cordova begins a new chapter. Recently married, he now appopriately dons the Spanish honorific Señor before his birth surname Gigio in tribute to his Latin heritage (Puerto Rican / Nicaraguan) & also as a sign of self-mastery over his artistry. Señor Gigio prides himself as a lyrical storyteller in the tradition of voices like Gil Scott-Heron, Bob Dylan & John Lennon. An equally explosive performer, he can hold crowds captive with the prowess of Big Daddy Kane or even James Brown! Whether it be through rapping highly-technical yet funky dope flows, crooning bluesy soul ballads or experimenting with bold alternative sounds, Señor Gigio doses his audience with the pure magic that life itself is made of. Señor Gigio has toured his music independently throughout California, Oregon, Washington, New Mexico & even internationally in Canada & Japan. In the fall of 2016, Señor Gigio released the 22 track masterpiece Eye Am Not My Name. Currently, Señor Gigio continues promoting & illustrating new art pieces while he prepares to launch a record label to release his next Hip Hop / RnB fusion album, Life Support.

"In a field of talented rappers, Gigio distinguishes himself through his fierce work ethic, his commitment to craft, his shamanic spirit, and yes, even his quite competent singing. But it’s his approach to life that really sets him apart. Gigio will go deep into the interior of his soul mining for lyrical gems, as he grapples with the bedrock issues of existence. He will walk out on the high wire of life, undaunted by negative comments. His formidable body of work shows that he’s funny, articulate, and extremely inventive. Come on, anyone that coins the phrase “brainshine” deserves a long, hard look, if not an investor’s serious attention." - M.C. Mars, Author / Novelist ("Don't Take Me The Long Way" & "Burner")
