Scott L. French

Scott L. French has traveled the US, Central Europe and the Caribbean drumming with a passion that comes from a love of the drums. His unique sound and approach to playing reflects the influence of Benny Benjamin, Jim Keltner, Bernard Purdie, Al Foster, Art Blakey, Jeff Pocaro, Jeff Hamilton, and countless great drummers.

Born in Northern Iowa, Scott began his first drum lessons at age six with Don Jepner and big band drummer, Don Lincoln. Joining his first band at 11, he began studies with studio great, John “JR” Robinson (Quincy Jones, Madonna, Eric Clapton); jazz legend Jeff Hamilton (Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Brown); percussionist Dom Moio (Mose Allison, Herb Ellis, Ahmad Jamal); rock drummer Kenny Aronoff. (John Cougar, John Fogerty, Melissa Etheridge); and jazz drummer Dan Tomlinson (Lyle Lovett/Acoustic Alchemy).
