Rue Protzer

Sound, aesthetics, and a play full of warmth and spirituality turn Rue Protzer into a unique musician within the European Jazz scene. With his project “Rue de Paris”, he realizes his musical visions and works together with the crème de la crème of the international music scene. “Grammy Award winner” Randy Brecker, saxophone legend Lee Konitz, the New York rhythm section Adam Nussbaum and Jay Anderson, John Goldsby, pianist Thomas Rueckert, as well as the Dutch trumpet player Ack van Rooyen are among his musical companions.

Born in Stuttgart, 1966

First guitar lessons at the age of nine, plays in various bands in the area of funk / rock and wins his first composition competition at the age of fifteen

After graduating from high school (Abitur) in 1985, first employment as studio musician at the Berlin Hansa-Studios and first release as composer

1987-1994 Konservatorium Nürnberg, studies with Kurt Hiesl, Vivienne Olive and Werner Andreas Albert. Graduates in Guitar, Composition, and Conducting

1994 �" 2000 Numerous national and international releases as studio musician and composer in the area of pop-music and adverstisement (Dollhouse, Fancy, Funk You, Peggy March, Denise, Chris Wolf…)

1999 Workshops, masterclasses and private lessons in New York and London with Pat Metheny, Joe Beck, Gene Bertoncini & Peter Omara, among others

Various teaching activities in theory of music and guitar, jury at the German music competition “Jugend musiziert”

2003 Numerous performances with ‘4 at the club” at top events e.g. international horse racing Baden-Baden, BMW Open Munich, etc.

2004 Producer of and guitarist on “Beginning to see the light” by Ursula Oswald (Jazz4ever Records - with Thomas Rückert, Hendrik Smock, Markus Schieferdecker, Matthias Bergmann & John Marshall)

2005 Rue de Paris �" “Quiet Motion” , Debut-CD on Sony Classical / Sony BMG (with Adam Nussbaum, Ack van Rooyen, John Goldsby, Thomas Rückert) Concerts and festivals with Tony Bulluck

2006 Tour and radio recordings with Rue de Paris and Ack van Rooyen Co-operation with the guitar manufacturer Gibson

2007 Production of the second album of “Rue de Paris” for Sony BMG at the Avatar Studios in New York (with Randy Brecker, Lee Konitz, Adam Nussbaum, Thomas Rückert & Jay Anderson)
