PSYCHIC EQUALIZER, the project lead by Cantabrian pianist and composer Hugo Selles, has released a new EP. Madrid (or Suite For The Solitary Contemporary Citizen) saw the light on 28th April on iTunes. While the first EP Memories From A Cold Place was inspired by the countryside around Selles’ hometown, this second work focuses on the loneliness of living in a big city. The sound of this new production incorporates elements of rock and jazz, without leaving the influence of electronic and ambient music established by the previous EP. Selles’ pianos and keyboards are joined by the guitar sounds of Quico Duret, renowned guitarist of the Madrid indie scene. As a special bonus, Psychic Equalizer will also release a self-produced limited double edition CD at the beginning of May. This will include the first and second EPs, bonus material and exclusive photos. The single for this edition is Train Back Home, which is available for free download online
"A mix of jazz, ambient, and electronic music, the piano is always the main instrument. The seven tracks are varied, although the album maintains a fairly even tempo and consistent mood throughout. A bit on the dark and mysterious side, Memories From A Cold Place is a very promising first effort." Kathy Parsons - MainlyPiano.com
"... la sobriedad y gusto clásico de Hugo, nos hará aterrizar con suavidad en las frondosas laderas de cualquier valle cántabro." Gustavo Lecha - ZonadeJazz.com
