Arthur Vint

Drummer, composer and bandleader Arthur Vint moved to the New York area from his hometown of Tucson, AZ in 2007 to pursue a career in music. He is now as busy as any freelance musician could hope to be, performing over 250 gigs a year with bands such as Postmodern Jukebox, Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks, Zephaniah OHora & The Last Roundup Boys, GaDaDu, The Synesthetics, Arthur Vint & Associates, and a good deal more. He has graced the stages of some of the world’s finest concert halls including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Olympia Theater in Paris and the Hammersmith Apollo in London and jazz clubs such as The Blue Note, Cornelia Street Cafe, Joe’s Pub and Dizzy’s Club at Jazz @ Lincoln Center in New York.

Arthur appears on dozens of recordings that span the genres, including modern jazz, hot jazz, big band, salsa, country, pop and rock. Arthur’s first album as a leader, “Through The Badlands” on Ropeadope Records, combines many of these influences and was named as one of the “best jazz albums of 2016” by the Huffington Post. Arthur Vint & Associates’ newest offering on Ropeadope is entitled “Death Rides A Horse” and is a salute to the spaghetti western soundtracks of Ennio Morricone. Arthur rearranged Morricone’s often-symphonic works for his 9-piece ensemble making them vehicles for improvisation. The band’s instrumentation includes chromatic harmonica, violin, tenor sax, bass clarinet, two guitars, piano, bass and drums.

Arthur has toured extensively throughout the U.S. Europe, Canada and South America and has also performed on screen in episodes of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, Cinemax’s The Knick, and the blockbuster film John Wick, which he also contributed to the soundtrack. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance from William Paterson University of New Jersey and his master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music and is an educator in his own right, teaching at the Little Red School House in Manhattan and through his own private studio. When not performing or teaching, Arthur tends bar at the world famous Village Vanguard jazz club in Greenwich Village, keeping his finger on the pulse of modern jazz scene.

Arthur endorses Paiste Cymbals, Canopus Drums, Protection Racket Cases and Vic Firth Sticks. He lives in The Bronx with his wife, son and many houseplants.
