Stefan Sirbu
Strasbourg-based pianist and composer, Moldovan-born Stefan Sirbu has made both sides of the Rhine and the Atlantic his creative lab. Classically-trained since the age of 6 and composing since the age of 10, Stefan Sirbu has been drawing inspiration from jazz greats and contemporary artists, hip-hop, Latin-American and European classical music alike.
Dedicated to the art form, while pursuing a career in law, he has been sharing his music with audiences internationally for over twenty years. His compositions have been broadcasted on various radio stations worldwide such as Swiss Radio Jazz, France Musique, Radio România Cultural, Canarias Radio and others.
Stefan Sirbu recleased his first album as a leader, AUTUMN WHISPERS, in 2021, in collaboration with Basel-based Brazilian jazz artists Fabio Gouvea (guitar) and Paulo Almeida (drums), and Venezuelan bassist Roberto Koch. His second album as a leader, REVERIE, with Julieta Eugenio (tenor saxophone), Clovis Nicolas (double bass) and Anthony Pinciotti (drums) was released on March 7, 2025. The album was recorded at Tedesco Studios in New Jersey on May 7, 2024 and includes seven original tracks by Stefan Sirbu.
Stefan Sirbu has shared the stage and collaborated as a sideman with Don Braden, Lawrence Clark, Duane Eubanks, Joris Teepe, Darrell Green. He has explored various music configurations with George Mel, Tobias Meinhart, Christophe Panzani, Sandi Kuhn, Michael Kersting, Jens Loh, Ben Rubens, Ben Zweig, and others.
