Long ago Father said, " Louise, come and sing”; And Sing she did. An experienced , versatile entertainer, Louise has a smooth, silky, clear and controlled style. Equally mesmerizing singing Brazilian jazz , reggae, pop, rhythm and blues or classical and contemporary melodies..she can sing it all.
Born in Montreal, raised in Trinidad ,and schooled in both cities, Louise has been singing since the age of four. Growing up, her home was full of jazz legends, from her father to Harry Belafonte. Louise has toured 18 countries in South and Central America during the early 1970's and was exposed early on to performing at Jazz Shows in Sao Paulo, Brazil and Bahia. She began her career singing acapella style in song competitions and shows and has taught Introduction to Acapella Jazz Vocal Workshops in Montreal and Miami. She worked with Calypso Crazy , a leading Trinidadian Calypso singer and danced with Trinidad’s Calypso King, The Mighty Sparrow.
Saluting her roots and continuing in that tradition, Louise began her professional career as the lead vocalist for “The Fabulolus Platters”, a tribute group to The Platters. She has been in jazz performances ranging from the Montreal Jazz Festival featuring such greats as Charlie Biddle, Dizzy Gilespie, Oliver Jones,and Oscar Peterson; to the A.T.& T Jazz Festival at the Bayfront Park Amphitheater in Miami singing alongside Robert Pereira, Othello Molineaux, and Milton Mustafa. Louise works with different SteelPan orchestras including the 21st Century Steel Orchestra. She has sung alongside jazz instrumentalists such as Ed Calle,Nagee and recorded with Nestor Torres.
She has been featured as a Traditional and Brasilian Jazz Vocalist in many concerts and event amongst old time Brasilian jazz artists like Milton Nascimento and Roberto Menescal at the World Stage in Los Angeles, Ca.
Performing with the Florida International University Jazz Band, with Director, Chip McNeil, and for President Bill Clinton at the Summit of the Americas held in Miami.
Versatile, as well as talented, she has lent her skills to touring productions of Les Miserables and 42nd Street.
Producing and Recording with musical partner, Talita Babl,Louise sings her songs in five languages marking her strong diversity as well as the diversity of her community, Miami. Her theme song is “Red Balloon over Miami” which was a collobrative effort between the two of them. Another of their compositions was produced specifically for the 2000 Olympics, where she performed at the Florida World Pavillion in Syndey, Australia.
Her company and record label, Jazzy Dans La Nuit has produced the Red Balloon Over Miami CD.
