Matilda Andersson

Matilda (1990) was born in Algutstorp south of Sweden and is currently active and based in Gothenburg. She started her self-studies if music in early age and begun writing music at the age of twelve. Later on continuing with music studies during gymnasium and work with many music projects in different genres. She continuing to study music at Billströmska Folkhighschool at The island of Tjörn an perform solo and with larger ensembles like TigerHorse and perform at the island with music made for 11 musicians. After two years she move to Gothenburg and start Whirl Orchestra and later on FYR. She attend to Fridhems Folkhighschool's education for jazz musicians and get in. She study jazz for a year. Write music to; record, and go on tour with the swedish avant-garde septet LODA and compose music and record with sextett FYR and several other ensembles while she study music and develop as a free improvisation musician. She apply for the musician candidate programme at RMC in Denmark and get in to Aalborg's independent musician programme. Though deciding to move to Gothenburg to create and work with lots of musicians.

Since 2014 lead and compose for the group Fartyg 6, in which she sing in and have released 3 records with. "Den Första" 2016 and "Allt Faller" 2018 and "Osmund" 2021. They have represented Sweden in Nordic Jazz Comets and performed at venues like Nefertiti Jazz club and EFG London jazz festival. She is also a member of the septet "Olimpias Orkan" that has been active since 2017 lead by the pianist and composer Olimpia Dynarek Olsson. West coast big band and Lars Larsson nonette along with many improvisation groups.

Beside being a musician and composer she also is a producer of musik and arranging music and culture events. One of many is the feministic jazz club "Klubb Impuls" since 2014.
