Lucy Southern

Lucy Southern, a rising star of jazz violin on the international scene. Lucy is an American jazz violinist based in France, now performing with her new quartet of French musicians: Issa Souriant on piano, Henri Lassemillante on double bass, and Fabien Dechaumont on drums. She trained in the United States with the violinists of the Grammy Award-winning Turtle Island String Quartet, as well as at SFSU with the Alexander String Quartet, and in France at the Didier Lockwood School and the Aubervilliers Conservatory. She has performed on renowned stages in France (Café Jazz Montparnasse, Festival Django Reinhardt, Andernos Jazz Festival) and internationally (semi-finalist at the Seifert International Jazz Violin Competition in Poland, Letni Letna Festival in Prague, Freight and Salvage in San Francisco, etc.). Her compositions blend the rich musical tradition of her home country, the USA, with the innovations and inspirations of jazz violin in France.
