Justin Foster
Justin is a multi-instrumentalist. His instrument of choice is the Tenor Saxophone, but he also plays the Alto Sax, Clarinet, Flute, as well as several non-woodwind instruments. For example for several years, he has performed at the Londsdale Street Greek Festival playing the Baglamadaki.
Justin composes, arranges and improvises in a variety of styles but with a particular focus on jazz. He has a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz Performance.
Due to his versatility, Justin has performed in Pit Orchestras (reed book) for musicals such as 'Urinetown: The Musical', 'Pirates of Penzance', and 'Thoroughly Modern Millie'.
Because of Justin's broad musical range, he has provided musical entertainment at the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Carlton Footbal Club Family Day, Ego Pharmaceuticals Christmas Party, Community TV Christmas Carols, Bib Stillwell BMW Car Launch, Grand Final Eve Luncheon, and other corporate gigs.
A couple of different gigs were performing in a video for a pop song's CD launch, and when Justin had a role in a play as a jazz musician in a band that played live music during scences in the play.
Justin has had the priviledge of performing with the late Dr. Allan Zavod OAM (internationally famous pianist/composer), James Black (of Rock Quiz), Jack Howard (of Hunters and Collectors), Paul Williamson (of Paul Williamson Hammond Combo), the Daryl McKenzie Jazz Orchestra (DMJO), Dizzy's Big Band, Andy Gravish (of Buddy Rich Big Band), Andrea Keller, Sandy Evans, Terri Lynne Carrington, to name a few.
Since 2020, Justin is the band leader for the Jazz Harbingers Tribute Band - playing the Music of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers - at jazz venues like: Paris Cat Jazz Club, Uptown Jazz Cafe, etc.
