Jud Sherwood

Jud Sherwood founded The Jazz Project in 1997 to promote jazz from a player’s perspective. As a professional jazz drummer he has worked with musicians from around the world including John Stowell, Nancy King, Kevin Mahogany, Jennifer Scott, Rene Worst, Miles Black, (and the late) Herb Ellis, Teddy Edwards, and Bill Perkins among many others.

Jud has been producing concerts in Bellingham since 1992. He is a two-time recipient of the Mayor’s Arts Award, receiving his second one in 2006. The organization receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Humanities to present regional, national, and international touring artists. He has received national recognition for many of his professional recordings through The Jazz Project record label. The Jazz Project supports many local non-profit organizations and hosts workshops and clinics for local schools. The Project provides scholarships and lessons for low-income families and provides an instrument donation/refurbishing program, placing instruments into hands of children who can’t afford them.
