Jim Halsall

I live in Clitheroe Lancashire where I was born.I have done most of my guitar playing in the south of England but have now had the good sense to leave the wicked south and return to the beautiful landscape and warm bosom of the Ribble Valley.

I have been a professional guitarist for 15 years performing various styles working in bands and as a solo artist playing live music, everything from Pink Floyd and Dire Straits ( a particular favourite of mine) to jazz standards.I also give guitar lessons.

Over the last couple of years I have developed this new repertoire which is orientated towards occasions where an easy listening yet stylish and musical accompaniment is required.Such as restaurant background music, wedding ceremony music, dinner party, corporate entertainment, private parties,or any special function.

If you refer to my repertoire this will give you a good idea of my style and versatility.Entertainment agents often refer to musicians like myself as a 'wedding jazz singer' but firstly I am a musician and my songs cover a wider range than just jazz standards.

I often do play for wedding receptions and I would be pleased to discuss with your wedding planner your requirements.

I often work as a solo artist which means I can provide music for you at a modest rate compared to a band.I can also add other musicians like double bass,as a duo, and drums as a trio.

Over the years I have been lucky enough to have played as support artiste with some great musicians like Al Stewart, Barbara Thompson, George Melly, Stephan Grappelli,Jake Thackray, Ronnie Scott and many more.

Gorleston On Sea Gazette. Over the years I have been lucky enough to see some good musicians and entertainers perform, but only on the odd occasion an outstanding one comes along.Mr Jim Halsall certainly falls into this category. Having seen him perform twice at local venues and once at a private function, where he enthralled revellers aged 14 to 80 with his excellent guitar playing skills. A truly exceptional talent, and if you have a liking for good music played well, then Jim is most definitely not to be missed.
