Jens Byskov Jensen
Violinist Jens Byskov Jensen is the front man of Byskov Electric. He has also played under the artist name Doctor Django as bandleader of the jazz quartet Doctor Django and his Nurses with Enrico Rosa, Emilian Tupa and Henrik Nielsen.
Born in Denmark, Jensen began as a classical violinist, graduating from the music academy. For a while, he worked in the 1st violin section (2nd desk) with a suburban symphony in Chicago. Soon, warm winds lured him down to New Orleans where he was greatly influenced by the musical gumbo of the crescent city with its many styles and genres. Subsequently, Jensen returned to Europe.
Meeting Italian guitarist Enrico Rosa became an important milestone, and Rosa's progressive sounds and amazing knowledge of the jazz genre inspired Jensen greatly and helped bringing him forward.
Byskov Electric utilizes electronic sounds with keyboards, effects and samples, coupled with live drums, and Dorthe Højland on soprano-, alto- and baritone saxophone as well as bass clarinet.
The music of Jens Byskov Jensen is warmly welcomed in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Denmark, with several years of touring and performed at music venues and festivals. As a soloist, he has also performed in England, Holland, and the U.S.A. particularly in Chicago, New Orleans and New York.
