James Edward Hill

James Hill is an award-winning Toronto-based pianist and composer. He is a member of multiple bands, most notably BADBADNOTGOOD and Autobahn Trio. As a co-leader he has released three albums with his band Autobahn Trio, and is currently working on a studio album with BADBADNOTGOOD. Further, Hill is near completing a solo piano project under his pseudonym Projectwhatever, which he intends to release in 2020. Hill is now touring internationally with BADBADNOTGOOD, while the release of his new self-led project titled LOCAL TALENT (December 13, 2019) quickly approaches. LOCAL TALENT is a trio of Canadian musicians Rich Brown, Ian Wright and Hill. The new album is titled Higienópolis, and was composed and inspired by a trip Hill took to Brazil. Higienópolis will serve as a debut for Hill as a solo artist and composer. Hill’s composition style, and approach to the piano, is rooted in jazz improvisation, but draws heavily from classical composition and pop-culture of the 90’s, an era which is incredible nostalgic for Hill.
