Led by Conductor Charley Harrison The Hollywood Jazz Orchestra Is comprised of some of the most heralded musicians in the Los Angeles Jazz Community, while also reflecting the great diversity of LA’s population.

The members of HJO have played with the the likes of Count Basie, Tony Bennett, Woody Herman, Frank Sinatra, Clark Terry, Elvis Presley and many more. HJO musicians can be heard on high profile recordings, Film scores, and commercials, along with innumerable live concerts, domestically and abroad.

About Charley Harrison

Charley Harrison, composer, arranger, orchestrator, conductor, and guitarist, is the Inaugural Conductor of The Hollywood Jazz Orchestra. He has also been the Director of the UCLA Jazz Orchestra since 2004.

Harrison’s compositions and arrangements have been performed by some of the biggest names in jazz including: Kenny Burrell, Clark Terry, Marcus Miller, Freddy Cole, Kurt Elling, Cedar Walton, Joe Williams, The Count Basie Orchestra, and The Audio Network. Harrison’s 2006 CD, Keeping My Composure, received critical acclaim, and appeared on the JazzWeek radio charts for 13 consecutive weeks.

Prior to relocating to Los Angeles, Harrison worked as a composer and orchestrator on several film projects after spending 10 years working as a composer/producer in Chicago’s advertising community where he created music for such clients as McDonalds and The Chicago White Sox.

The Hollywood Jazz Orchestra have announced their schedule for the first half of the year, 2023. Starting with the NAMM Convention in Anaheim Friday April 14th 6p.m. on the Arena Plaza Stage. HJO quickly follow that with the season opening performance at LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art).
